Gunmen suspected to be members of ISWAP/Boko Haram who drove in a convoy of vehicles, on Saturday evening, attacked Babbangida, the headquarters of Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Reports from the town indicated that, the gunmen, upon storming the town, started shooting sporadically, which caused pandemonium with locals scampering for safety.
Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, who confirmed the intrusion by the suspected insurgents, said details of the attack were still sketchy as of the time of filling in this report.
Babbagida is about 44 kilometers away from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and had suffered many attacks by the suspected insurgents.
The latest attack on the town is coming amid the End SARS protests in some parts of the country.
