BREAKING: Case adjourned as EFCC fails to present Emefiele in Court

On Monday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to produce the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

Despite an order from trial judge Justice Olukayode Adeniyi for the EFCC to produce Emefiele in court for the hearing of his motion on fundamental rights enforcement, he was not presented in court.

Justice Adeniyi had previously instructed the anti-graft agency to unconditionally release the former CBN governor or bring him to court for the motion regarding his bail. This directive came after Emefiele’s arrest by the EFCC shortly following his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in late October.

The court has adjourned the hearing of Emefiele’s motion on notice and for his counsel to provide additional documents until Wednesday, November 8. Additionally, it reiterated its order from November 2, demanding Emefiele’s unconditional release or his presence in court on Wednesday.
