IDOMA VOICE reports that the Catholic Diocese of Gboko, Benue State has suspended its priest, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
This followed his decision to venture into partisan politics.
Alia is a frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State.
The church, in a letter dated May 20 and sighted by IDOMA VOICE on Saturday, said it is against the policy of the Mother Church for any of its serving priests to go into politics.
The letter signed by William A. Avenya Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Gboko & Apostolic Administrator Sede Vacante, Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala, said the suspension of Alia takes immediate effect.
