BREAKING: Court grants Godwin Emefiele N300m bail

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has granted bail to the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the sum of N300 million.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Hamza Muazu on Wednesday, stipulated that Emefiele must provide two sureties, both of whom are required to possess landed property in the Maitama District of the FCT.

Emefiele was not present in court during the proceedings, as he had been remanded at Kuje prison the previous week.

This decision follows a previous order from another FCT High Court two weeks ago, instructing his release in a fundamental human rights suit initiated against the federal government.

The court has adjourned the case until November 28 for the commencement of the trial.
