The Federal High Court in Abuja has authorized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to apprehend former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, ahead of his scheduled appearance on Thursday, April 18. Justice Emeka Nwite issued the warrant on Wednesday afternoon, following the EFCC’s request.
This decision comes amidst a reported legal battle, as a High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, had previously barred the EFCC from violating the fundamental rights of the former governor. However, the latest ruling from the Federal High Court in Abuja supersedes this restraint.
In related news, there have been allegations concerning the misappropriation of a N20 billion intervention fund, prompting polytechnic students to petition the EFCC for investigation.
