BREAKING: Court reserves judgment in Kano governor’s appeal
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has decided to withhold its judgment in the appeal filed by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, contesting his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
Earlier, on September 20, the tribunal had invalidated Yusuf’s election by deeming 165,663 of his votes as invalid. This decision was based on the observation that the ballot papers in question lacked the required signatures and stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Consequently, the tribunal declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the victor in the governorship election.
Not content with this ruling, Governor Yusuf lodged an appeal against the tribunal’s decision, seeking to have the judgment overturned.
