Crisis is currently brewing in Owukpa, a suburb of Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, following a move by Fulani herdsmen to erect a mosque in Eyupi.
Eyupi is located alkng the Orokam-Owukpa road.
It was gathered that the herdsmen defied the recent order by the traditional leader of the community, Chief Emmanuel Odeh (Onomo), to vacate the community within two weeks.
IDOMA VOICE learnt that crisis began few days ago when the herdsmen invaded the village and one of then attempted to rape a 14-year-old girl at the village stream.
The randy herdsman, however, got more than what he bargained for as he lost one of his fingers in attempt to rape the teenage girl.
Speaking with our reporter, a source within the village said the herdsmen stormed the village and attempted to erect a mosque but were resisted by the elders.
At the moment, the herdsmen have regrouped along Orokam road thinking of the next step.
More to come.
