BREAKING: Dangote refinery increases petrol price by ₦100 per litre nationwide
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has effected a fresh upward review of the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), increasing pump prices by ₦100 per litre across the country.
In a statement released on Monday, the refinery confirmed that its ex-depot (gantry) price has risen to ₦799 per litre, while the recommended retail price at partner outlets now stands at ₦839 per litre. This represents an increase from the previous ₦699 gantry price and ₦739 pump price that had been in place since December.
The refinery explained that the adjustment reflects current market realities, noting that under the new pricing framework, PMS is sold at ₦799 per litre at the gantry, with MRS retail outlets dispensing the product at ₦839 per litre nationwide.
Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, assured Nigerians that despite the price hike, supply remains stable. He disclosed that the refinery continues to supply about 50 million litres of petrol daily to the domestic market, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution are proceeding without disruption.
The development comes amid reports that the refinery recently supplemented local production with imported petrol to sustain supply levels during downtime at its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) unit, according to data from global energy tracking firm, Kpler.
