The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reportedly freed the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.
The anti-graft agency had picked up at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport a few hours after he handed over power to Charles Soludo.
He was on his way to Texas in the United States, when EFCC officials arrested him.
However, Newsguru is reporting that the former Anambra governor has been released.
Obiano was released, according to a person close to the situation, and will continue his journey to the United States.
“The EFCC freed Obiano and his wife only 2 hours after they were apprehended at the airport.
“They missed their trip and will be flying to Houston under different arrangements,” according to the source.
Meanwhile , EFCC is yet to react to the report.
We’ll monitor the situation and bring details shortly.
