BREAKING: Ekiti govt imposes curfew, bans gatherings of more than 20 people
The Ekiti State Government has imposed a curfew from 8pm to 6am across the State to check the spread of COVID-19.
This was announced on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Hon Akinbowale Omole, in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The government also banned all gatherings of more than 20 people in the State until further notice.
According to Omole, the restrictions take effect from Monday, January 11, 2021.
Omole noted that there is a need for the Government to be proactive and take decisive steps to secure the citizens from falling prey to the second wave of the pandemic.
The Commissioner emphasized that the curfew will be strictly enforced, adding that only those who are on essential services will be exempted.
Speaking on religious worship, Omole said the government allows for two services to take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday accordingly and must not extend beyond 2pm.
He said worship centres must take the temperature of worshippers and must also provide soap for washing of hands and also hand sanitisers.
He hereby advised citizens of the state to comply with all safety measures which include wearing of nose masks properly, washing of their hands with soap, use of hand sanitizer regularly and maintaining social distancing.
