BREAKING: Flood blocks Makurdi–Abuja road hours before Tinubu’s visit to Benue
Just hours before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue State, the Makurdi–Lafia–Abuja highway has become impassable due to heavy flooding, causing widespread disruption.
According to observations by IDOMA VOICE, torrential floodwaters have submerged a major section of the highway, leaving motorists and passengers stranded and bringing traffic to a halt.
The affected route, which serves as a critical access point into Makurdi, has forced many travelers to either delay their journeys or seek temporary refuge in safer locations.
The development comes at a particularly sensitive time, as security personnel and logistics teams were already on high alert in anticipation of the President’s one-day condolence visit to mourn the victims of the recent massacre in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the flooding or whether it may impact the President’s itinerary.
