BREAKING: Former England manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson dies at 76

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away at the age of 76. The ex-Manchester City and Leicester boss had been battling cancer in recent months and died on Monday.

Sven had been terminally ill and shared an emotional farewell message just days before his passing.

Tributes from the football world are pouring in for the Swedish coach, who managed 67 England games between January 2001 and July 2006.

Eriksson led the England team to the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, where they were defeated by Brazil, and oversaw last-eight exits against Portugal at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup.

Speaking of Sinclair, his former club West Ham have also sent their condolences.

They said: “Everyone at West Ham United is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson. We send our deepest condolences to Sven’s family, friends and loved ones. Rest in peace, Sven.”

Former England star Trevor Sinclair is among those to have penned an emotional message to Eriksson after his death.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “Gutted & eternally grateful. RIP Sven.”

He also shared an image of the pair during their time with the England team.

Sven Goran Eriksson penned an emotional final message before passing away.

He said: “I had a good life. I think we are all scared of the day when we die, but life is about death as well. You have to learn to accept it for what it is. Hopefully at the end people will say, yeah, he was a good man, but everyone will not say that.

“I hope you will remember me as a positive guy trying to do everything he could do. Don’t be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, coaches, players, the crowds, it’s been fantastic. Take care of yourself and take care of your life. And live it. Bye.”
