Ikobi community in Apa LGA of Benue State was plunged into chaos as armed bandits descended upon the area, leaving at least four individuals dead and several others injured.
According to Mr. Ameh Amodu, a witness to the incident who spoke with Post Daily on Thursday, the attack occurred during the night on the outskirts of the community. Despite initial attempts by soldiers to repel the invaders, they managed to infiltrate the area silently, perpetrating violence against unsuspecting residents.
Describing the modus operandi of the assailants, Amodu stated, “The area is surrounded by hills, and that was how they took the people unawares. Armed herdsmen are the ones who killed them. They will begin to patrol again with their cows and drop their warriors who are attacking the people unexpectedly.”
The chairman of the Apa Development Association, Barrister Eche Akpoko, confirmed the grim toll of the attack, revealing that four bodies have been recovered from the scene.
