A significant defection has hit the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the House of Representatives as four members switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defections, announced on Thursday by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, involve lawmakers from four states: Kaduna, Imo, Edo, and Cross River.
The defectors are Chinedu Okere (Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency, Imo State), Mathew Donatus (Kaura Federal Constituency, Kaduna State), Akiba Bassey (Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Constituency, Cross River State), and Esosa Iyawe (Oredo Federal Constituency, Edo State).
Their decision marks a notable shift in the political alignment within the House, further strengthening the APC’s majority.
