BREAKING: Fulani herdsmen strike in Benue, attack blind woman

Gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen have attacked Ado community in Benue State, butchering a partially blind woman.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the woman, who had gone to fetch firewood, was attacked by a Fulani herdsman at about 0930 hrs Monday Morning at Ukwuonyo ward Ado LGA without any provocation.

A source told IDOMA VOICE that “they were two in number while one was able to flee, poor blind woman could not due to her predicament. She was given first aid in Utonkon and has been rushed to Otukpo Gen hospital Benue State.

“Ado community has been witnessing rise in kidnap cases. This is a new dimension. The man while cutting the woman was saying this is revenge for “killing Alhaji and we are going to kill more”.

“No herder was arrested or killed in the vicinity so the villagers are really surprised at this wicked act, very worried and apprehensive as farming is their only source of livelihood.”

Confirming the development, the chairman of Ado LGA, Hon. James Oche told IDOMA VOICE on phone that he’s on top of the situation.

“Yes, it is true. The woman was attacked this morning. As we speak, I am at the hospital to ensure her life is safe. We will be meeting with leaders of Fulani community this over the development,” he told our reporter.
