BREAKING: Gov Alia submits first batch of commissioner-nominees to Benue Assembly

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has forwarded the first list of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The move comes fee days after Governor Alia sacked all serving commissioners in a sweeping cabinet dissolution aimed at repositioning his administration for better service delivery.

The list, transmitted on Friday, August 1, 2025, contains eight names. They are:

1. Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue

2. Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver

3. Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa

4. Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo

5. Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga

6. Hon. Denis Iyaighgba

7. Hon. James Dwem

8. Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche

According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, a second batch of nominees is expected to be sent to the Assembly in the coming days.

Kula stated that the appointments are part of the governor’s efforts to strengthen governance in the state, and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, competence, and inclusivity in the selection of key government officials.

The nominees will be screened by the Benue State House of Assembly before taking up their respective portfolios.
