BREAKING: Governor Alia announces key appointments in Benue State
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved six key appointments and a structural reform aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery.
The New Appointments:
Prof. Daniel Amine – Director General, Benue Geographical Information System (BENGIS)
Prof. Amine, a Mechanical Engineering expert with a B.Tech, M.Eng, and Ph.D., brings over 20 years of experience in engineering, banking, and construction. Currently a lecturer at Joseph Sawuan Takar University, Makurdi, he specializes in technical and engineering graphics.
Mrs. Afaityo Rebecca – General Manager, Community and Social Development Agency
With an M.Sc. and MBA in Management, Mrs. Afaityo has extensive expertise in community development, including serving as a Village Extension Officer and chairing the Initiatives for Empowerment of Vulnerable Persons in Society (IEVPS).
Mr. Michael Uper – Executive Secretary, Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board
A seasoned sports marketing consultant, Mr. Uper has worked in Niger and Lagos States and previously served as a consultant to the Benue Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Creativity.
Dr. Erdoo Mongol – Managing Director/CEO, Benue State Geo-Mining Company Nigeria Limited
A geoscientist with over 14 years of experience in mining and environmental sustainability, Dr. Mongol is passionate about resource management, youth empowerment, and education in underserved communities.
Surveyor Tsokar Terfa – Technical Advisor to the Governor on Land Matters
Surveyor Terfa, a seasoned land administrator, served as Benue State’s Surveyor General from 2021 to 2023.
Mr. Stephen Utah – Executive Secretary, Bureau for Solid Minerals
Following the separation of the Solid Minerals Department from the Ministry of Lands, Survey, and Solid Minerals, Mr. Utah, formerly Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Solid Minerals, will now head the newly created Bureau.
Governor Alia expressed confidence in the appointees, emphasizing their wealth of experience and commitment to driving development in their respective sectors. He urged them to prioritize the state’s interests and uphold the administration’s ideals.
