Gunmen have reportedly killed Mr. Sunday Oche, the Labour Party (LP) ward chairman.
According to sources, Mr. Oche was ambushed and shot dead while visiting his farm with friends.
Eyewitnesses report that the attack occurred when Mr. Oche, accompanied by five others on motorcycles, went to assist a widow on her farm.
The assailants shot Mr. Oche, while the five companions sustained serious gunshot wounds and narrowly escaped.
The attackers also stole the group’s two motorcycles.
A source close to Mr. Oche, who requested anonymity, revealed that the group was ambushed by the bandits, leading to the chairman’s death and the injuries of his companions.
As of now, SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, has stated she is unaware of the incident.
