Gunmen Sunday night kidnapped two landlords in the Asokoro extension area of the Federal Capital Territory, demanding a hefty N20 million ransom for their release.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed assailants strategically used one of the landlords, whom they threatened at gunpoint, to gain access to a victim’s residence.
One resident, James, revealed that the other victim was abducted while entering his house, as the criminals swiftly executed their plan under the cover of darkness.
James recounted, “It happened around 11 pm on Sunday. Due to the heat, one landlord slept outside, and the gunmen, noticing him, forced him at gunpoint to lead them to his house. Unsatisfied with his dwelling, they compelled him to knock on a neighboring, more substantial residence, gaining entry and kidnapping the first victim. The second landlord, arriving on a motorcycle due to car issues, was attacked and abducted upon reaching his home.”
The kidnappers wasted no time in reaching out to the families, demanding a total ransom of N20 million. The source disclosed, “Two hours after their operation, they called the families, urging them to pay N10 million each. Despite one family’s plea to pay N2 million initially, the kidnappers rejected the offer and threatened to harm the victim if the full N10 million was not paid.”
However, the Asokoro Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Mohammed Seidu, confirmed the incident and assured the public that collaborative efforts with the police are underway to secure the safe release of the kidnapped landlords.
“Policemen from the Asokoro Police Station are actively involved in addressing the matter. We are combing nearby areas and bushes in a joint effort with the police to rescue the victims,” Seidu stated.
