BREAKING: Gunmen kill humanitarian worker, Chris Terfa in Benue

Gunmen killed humanitarian worker Chris Terfa Akpu on Friday in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

Akpu was attacked in his office located along Catholic Youth Centre Church, Makurdi.

IDOMA VOICE reports that the unidentified assailants shot him multiple times in the chest, resulting in his immediate death before any assistance could arrive.

According to a friend who spoke to The Nation on the condition of anonymity, the gunmen gained entry to the office by shooting the security guard on duty. They then forced one of the staff members to lead them to Akpu’s office, where he was fatally shot.

Another friend, Stanley Chimin, shared that Akpu had just returned from an official engagement outside the state before his tragic death. He added that Akpu’s body has been taken to the morgue at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.

At the time of this report, the Benue Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, had not yet responded to messages seeking comment.
