BREAKING: We will no longer recognise David Mark as ADC chairman – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will no longer recognise the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark.
The commission said it will cease accepting correspondences from either the David Mark-led faction or that of Rafiu Bala, following its review of the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on March 12, 2026.
In a statement signed by its Chairman of Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Kudu, INEC stated that it would also stop engaging with both groups and would not monitor any meetings, congresses, or conventions organised by either faction until the matter is resolved by the Federal High Court.
The commission further disclosed that it would remove the name of David Mark from its official portal.
Rafiu Bala, who served as the ADC’s vice chairman before the David Mark-led caretaker committee assumed control of the party, had approached the court to challenge the emergence of Mark and other members of the National Working Committee.
