Reports reaching IDOMA VOICE have it that Elder Washima Erukaa, who was abducted from his residence in Zakibiam, Ukum Local Government area of Benue State on September 23, 2023, has reportedly been killed by his captors.
The 80-year-old Erukaa, a former chairman of Katsina Ala and Ukum Local Government areas, met a tragic end in the hands of his abductors.
A family source who gave his name as Tila, confirmed that the kidnappers had informed them of Elder Erukaa’s passing while in captivity, and he has already been buried.
According to the family source, “One of the abductors informed a member of the family that Erukaa had succumbed to his captors and was subsequently buried. This grim revelation was made to prevent the family from falling prey to ransom demands.”
Initially, the abductors had demanded a hefty sum of N12 million in exchange for Elder Erukaa’s safe release.
Subsequently, they lowered their demand to N5 million before his death.
As of the time of reporting, the police spokesperson, SP Kate Aneene, had not issued official confirmation regarding the fate of Elder Erukaa.
