BREAKING: Kwankwaso loses seat as Appeal Court validates Datti’s election

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ruled in favor of Yusuf Umar Datti of the New Nigeria People’s Party and removed Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso from the All Progressives Congress in the Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency Election.

A three-panel headed by Justice Tunde Oyebamiji Awotoye accepted an appeal from Yusuf Datti and declared that the tribunal made an error by considering the date of the Appellant’s resignation to be the same as the date of his party’s primary election.

The court also found that Section 77 of the Electoral Act was misapplied and emphasized that no court possesses the authority to adjudicate on matters related to party membership.
