A man in his thirties, who identified himself as Samuel Emmanuel, has been caught depositing fake naira notes at different Point of Sale (POS) terminals in Otukpo, Benue State.
The suspect was earlier reported by several POS operators who were defrauded of N47,000 , N48,000 and N46,000 on different occasions.
One of the victims, Mr Oche told IDOMA VOICE that, “This is the second time he is coming to my business centre. The first time he succeeded in stealing N47,000 from us with these fake notes last week when my sales girl was around and today he came back today to make another deposit with another set of fake notes again.
“Unfortunately for him today, my wife who was on duty this evening was able to recognize the fake notes and calling on my attention immediately, that’s how he was apprehended,” he said.
The suspect, Emmanuel in his defense, claimed that a random driver who he met while working as a commercial motorcyclist (Okada) gave him the cash to deposit and dashed him N500.
However, as at the time of filing this report, the suspect is being held and investigated by security men in the area.
