Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State has once again been subjected to a violent assault, believed to be orchestrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
According to reports received by News Express, the attack occurred late Sunday evening and resulted in the loss of several lives, with many others sustaining critical injuries.
Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the assailants targeted mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, leaving behind a trail of devastation and despair.
Among the victims were identified individuals such as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.
A distressing video footage, reviewed by News Express on Monday morning, depicted a haunting scene of desolation within the community. The footage captured an abandoned landscape, echoing with the aftermath of chaos and tragedy.
The narrator in the video recounted how the assailants caught the villagers off guard, launching a barrage of gunfire at the unsuspecting mourners. The footage revealed scattered furniture and belongings amidst pools of blood, bearing witness to the senseless violence inflicted upon innocent lives.
It’s worth noting that Nimbo suffered a similar attack back in 2016, resulting in significant casualties and sparking widespread outrage across the nation.
As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, has not yet responded to inquiries sent by News Express regarding the latest attack.
