Report reaching IDOMA VOICE says some yet-to-be specified number of persons have been feared killed with several others injured following a cult war that broke out in Otukpa district of Ogbadibo Local Government area of Benue State.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the clash broke out between two rival confraternities from two communities in Otukpa, -Ipiga and Ede.
It was also learnt that the clash has been going on for over four days now.
Many houses were also burnt with vehicles and properties worth millions destroyed by the hoodlums.
According to a source who is a native of Otukpa, the injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the various health facilities in the town.
A check on the local social media (Facebook) group, “COME TO OTUKPA”, also confirmed the clash.
A Facebook user, Forward Ever Benson wrote; “God what our generation is turning into? IPIGA OTUKPA/EDE OTUKPA is on fire as rival cult
AYE confraternity and ARO Confraternity are having clashes since four days back, this clashes have lead to the death of one young girl and houses, person’s are injured including ANAWOGENE OF AI- OONO, no body knows what will happen with in the night, God I pray for mercies and peace over our land, let your will be done.”
Sharing a video of a damaged vehicle, another user wrote; “Otukpa on fire around Court Ipiga…Dis is wath der did to my Uncle house.”
Sharing a photo of live bullets fired, Cisco Drille, wrote; “Please if you’re around court Ipiga here
Just stay indoors please.”
Efforts by our reporter to get a police comment proved abortive as a spokesman of the force could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
