Reports indicate that the building, intended for commercial purposes upon completion, crumbled in the early hours of Sunday while some construction workers were on the top floor.
An excavator has been swiftly mobilized to the site to commence the clearing of debris and potential rescue efforts for any trapped victims.
The cause of the collapse remains undetermined at this time. However, as of the latest update on Sunday, one person has been rescued, with ongoing rescue operations still underway at the location.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited, as the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, was unavailable for confirmation.
At the time of filing this report, attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.
Similarly, the Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, Chinyere Nworah, has yet to respond to inquiries made through her telephone.
