BREAKING: Multiple explosions rock Maiduguri

Residents of Maiduguri, Borno State, were thrown into panic on Monday evening following multiple explosions.

Boko Haram terrorists are suspected to have planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the city. Areas affected include the gate of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Monday Market Roundabout, and Elkanemi.

The first blast reportedly occurred around 7 p.m., shortly after Muslims broke their fast. It is unclear if there were any casualties.

The explosions come hours after an attack on a military location in Ajilari, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, where terrorists burnt the facility and seized a patrol vehicle.

Troops repelled the attack, killing some assailants while others fled with bullet wounds.

Details later.
