Nigeria was plunged into darkness on Wednesday after the national power grid collapsed once again.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the grid has now collapsed 11 times between January and November 2024. In October alone, the grid experienced three collapses within a single week, leading to widespread blackouts and significant public outcry.
The official Twitter account of Nigeria’s National Grid confirmed the latest collapse, which occurred at 2:09 p.m. on Wednesday.
This marks the 12th collapse of the grid this year, a historic low for the country’s power supply.
“The major grid setback has occurred and restoration will commence shortly,” the tweet stated.
