Nigeria was plunged into darkness as the national power grid collapsed once again.
The grid failure occurred around 11:20 a.m., disrupting the country’s bulk power supply.
The Nigeria National Grid confirmed the development via X, tweeting: “BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced.”
This marks the second collapse of the grid within the same week and the twelfth time in the past eleven months.
The incident has generated mixed reactions across social media platforms in Nigeria.
As of now, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not provided an official explanation for Thursday’s collapse. However, TCN previously cited line and generator trips as the cause of the grid failure earlier this week.
