Nigerian govt slashes electric tariff for Band A customers

Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IE) has announced a reduction in its electricity tariff for customers categorized under Band A, from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh. The company conveyed this information in a circular released by its management on Monday, published on its designated “X” page.

According to the statement, customers falling under Band A will now be charged N206.80/kWh instead of the previous N225/kWh rate stipulated by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). IE assured customers within this band of a guaranteed supply of electricity for 20 to 24 hours daily.

The circular addressed customers, stating: “Dear Esteemed Customers, Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh effective from 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24 hours supply daily. The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged.”
