BREAKING: NMDPRA, NUPRC CEOs resign over Dangote allegations
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to the Senate for confirmation, following the resignation of the agencies’ current leaders.
The nominations were conveyed in two separate letters addressed to the upper legislative chamber and read on Wednesday.
Farouk Ahmed has stepped aside from his role as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA, while Gbenga Komolafe has also resigned as Chief Executive of the NUPRC.
Both officials assumed office in 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, shortly after the Petroleum Industry Act came into force to restructure Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory framework.
The development was disclosed in a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
