The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited on Thursday inaugurated five new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) mini-plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
The five plants include PRIME LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete. These plants will source their feedstock—natural gas—from existing pipelines that supply the Ajaokuta area.
The main supply pipeline for these mini-plants is the Ajaokuta-Kano-Kaduna (AKK) gas pipeline, a key infrastructure project currently under construction by the Federal Government.
The initiative is expected to bring gas access to regions of the country that currently lack adequate gas infrastructure.
