The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has refuted rumors claiming that it has called off the nationwide protest initially slated for Wednesday. Reports circulating online had suggested that the union had decided to suspend the proposed protest following a meeting with government officials.

In a statement released on Tuesday night by the President of NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the Congress clarified that it has not reconsidered or suspended the planned mass protest. The NLC urged Nigerians to disregard the false information.

The statement highlighted that the union held a meeting with government representatives on Tuesday to emphasize its demands amid the worsening hardships resulting from the fuel subsidy removal. However, the meeting ended in a stalemate as no agreement was reached between the parties.

Comrade Joe Ajaero reaffirmed the NLC’s commitment to proceeding with the mass protest as scheduled. The demonstration aims to address the concerns and interests of the Nigerian workers and citizens.
