Mrs. Sarah Ajose-Adeogun, popularly known as Madam Sarah, the Special Adviser on Strategy, Performance, and Project Monitoring to Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki, has officially resigned. In a Facebook post, she declared, “I came, I saw, and I conquered,” confirming her departure from her role as an adviser to Obaseki.
Reports from Benin on Friday morning suggest that Madam Sarah’s resignation may be linked to the ongoing power struggles and the intense political dynamics within the current Obaseki-led administration.
Notably, Ajose-Adeogun had previously faced challenges in her role when the Chief of Staff to the Edo Governor, Osaigbovo Iyoha, reportedly closed her office. This action was allegedly taken because she refused to give up her seat to Obaseki during a commercial flight.
This resignation follows closely after the departure of Andrew Okungbowa, the former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Obaseki, who resigned just over a month ago.
Governor Obaseki, whose second term is set to conclude on November 12, 2024, is currently entangled in a succession dispute with his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu. Shaibu is vying for Obaseki’s position, while the Governor is believed to be supporting Lagos-based lawyer Asue Ighodalo.
The political landscape is further complicated by a disagreement between Governor Obaseki and various members of the PDP’s Legacy Coalition, led by Chief Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman, Southsouth. The immediate past Edo Chairman of PDP has declared that Ighodalo is not the chosen successor to Obaseki.
