About 35 #Endsars protesters arrested at the Lekki Toll Gate have been released on bail.
The protesters numbering about 35, were arrested on Saturday for taking part in a demonstration against the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) taking over the Lekki Toll Gate- the scene of October 20, 2020, killing of protesters by armed Nigerian soldiers.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the protesters were taken to Panti, a police unit notorious for handling tough criminal cases, then charged before a mobile court for breaking COVID-19 protocols and disobeying orders not to protest.
The protesters were released hours after Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate release of the unarmed protesters.
Modupe Odele, a Nigerian lawyer actively involved in the release of ENDSARS protesters gave the update on Twitter a few minutes ago:
“The Protesters arrested have all been granted bail including Mr Macaroni. They pleaded NOT guilty to the following charges:
1. breaking COVID-19 gathering limits 2. breaking order not to protest
One of them is injured and will get medical attention,” Miss Odele said.
