Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has written to the state House of Assembly seeking the approval of the house to borrow ten billion Naira to enable him clear backlogs of salaries, pensions and gratuities owed Benue workers and retirees.
In a letter signed Friday afternoon by Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Tony Ijoho, SAN and addressed to the Speaker of the House, Hon. Titus Uba, Governor Ortom asked the legislators to consider the degrading conditions of pensioners and workers who have served the State in different capacities and deserve their wages.
“It is my utmost believe that you are aware of what our workers and retirees have been passing through. We inherited huge debts in the area of salaries, pensions and gratuities, and we have been pressing to clear.”
