BREAKING: Peter Obi won 2023 presidential election, not Tinubu – Ex-SGF

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has stirred controversy by asserting that Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), emerged as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, contradicting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of Bola Tinubu’s victory.

Lawal, a close ally of Tinubu, presented this argument based on data gathered from various independent sources.

Lawal expressed his views in a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja. He mentioned, “I have resisted the temptation to engage in the contemporary political discourse since the May, 2023 election faux pas… The current topical issues for political discourse and inquiry are whether or not Bola Tinubu won the presidential election…”

“Right from the start of the campaigns, Bola knew he was not going to win the election in a free and fair contest so he decide to go by all means.

“Available factual data as aggregated from several independent sources indicate that Obi got the majority votes while Atiku came second. Bola came a distant third in the number of votes scored.

“My answer to the second inquiry is that given the now unfolding deluge of uncomplimentary information about who or what he actually is, ordinarily, sound ethics and morality should have convinced him to voluntarily excuse himself from participation in the election.

He continued, emphasizing his belief that Tinubu did not secure a victory in the election, and presented data suggesting Peter Obi garnered the majority of votes, with Atiku coming second. Lawal further commented on Tinubu’s eligibility to participate in the election, implying that given recent revelations about Tinubu’s background, ethical considerations should have led him to abstain from participation.

Lawal highlighted concerns about the current state of the nation, expressing doubt in the competence and actions of the current administration.

He criticized the appointments made by Tinubu, suggesting they were more inclined towards rewarding supporters rather than focusing on the nation’s welfare.

He also raised issues regarding rising fuel prices, currency devaluation, insecurity, and alleged intolerance for free speech.
