A fuel-laden tanker has caught fire in Jigawa State, located in North West Nigeria. The incident occurred at the Jigawa-Kano border and caused panic among onlookers.
Aliyu M. A., Public Relations Officer for the Federal Fire Service (FFS) in Jigawa State, confirmed the incident to the media on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. According to Aliyu, the FFS received an emergency call at around 10:43 a.m. on November 12, 2024, from Zubairu Ahmad, the Village Head of Kuho, reporting a tanker accident at Tsaida, Kwanar Kalle, near Gamoji village along Maiduri Road.
“The FFS responded swiftly and arrived at the scene at 10:50 a.m. The fire was successfully contained and controlled,” Aliyu added.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in October 2024, which claimed the lives of over 170 people. That explosion occurred on October 15, 2024, when a petrol tanker traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State exploded in Majia, Taura Local Government Area.
