BREAKING: Police arrest 46 over attack on Peter Obi’s convoy in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested 46 suspects in connection with the attack on the convoy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, disclosed this on Wednesday, saying the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Nwadiogbu said key leaders of the youths involved in the incident were still being trailed by the police.

The commissioner warned that the command would not allow political intolerance in the state as the 2027 general election approaches.

He said the police would continue to take necessary steps to identify everyone involved in the incident.

Nwadiogbu added that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Idoma Voice reports that the development followed the blockade of Obi’s convoy on its way to Yelwata, where he was scheduled to meet and commiserate with victims of the June 2025 attacks.

The incident occurred a few metres from the airport when Obi’s convoy encountered a roadblock on the two-lane Makurdi-Gboko Federal Highway.
