The police in Benue State have arrested the Commander of Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service and three others for allegedly cutting the hair of citizens and assembling unlawfully.
IDOMA VOICE reports that there was an uproar in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Tuesday, as some young girls were spotted with coloured hair or wearing rugged jeans were harassed by security operatives.
The forest guards, who were allegedly backed by men of the Department of State Service, DSS, shaved any girl seen with coloured hair.
Humanitarian worker, Ukan Kurugh, who captured the incident, said while the exercise lasted, the operatives were shooting sporadically.
Confirming the development, the police command in a post on its Facebook wall said: “Benue Police Command arrested the leader of the So-called Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service Commander and three others for allegedly cutting hair of citizens and assembling unlawfully. Details shortly.”
