BREAKING: Police deployed to PDP HQ amid tensions over factional secretaries’ resumption

Police officers have been sighted at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as both the embattled National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, and Ude Okoye, whom the Court of Appeal declared as the authentic National Secretary, prepare to resume work today.

Our correspondent on the ground reported that some drama may unfold due to the presence of both secretaries at the secretariat.

Both Anyanwu and Okoye are asserting their claims to the office of the PDP National Secretary.

Currently, there is a minimal police presence at the PDP headquarters, along with supporters of both Anyanwu and Okoye.

The ongoing tussle began after Anyanwu contested the Imo State governorship election, a race he lost to the incumbent governor.

Following his return to the party, Mr. Okoye, who acted in his stead during his absence, challenged Anyanwu’s right to reclaim the office he vacated to run for the election.

The courts ruled in favor of Mr. Okoye, and recently, the PDP National Working Committee acknowledged him as the legally recognized National Secretary, emphasizing the party’s respect for the Court of Appeal’s ruling.
