Portugal’s Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, has revealed his resignation in light of a corruption scandal linked to energy contracts.
“I cannot continue to hold the office of prime minister under any cloud of suspicion regarding my integrity. Therefore, I have submitted my resignation to the President of the Republic,” Costa stated during a press conference held on Tuesday.
