BREAKING: Protest breaks out in Tinubu’s home town amid Democracy Day celeration
Protesters stormed the Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos on Wednesday morning as the country marks the 2024 Democracy Day.
Despite the heavy security presence, with policemen and officials from the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps at the venue, protesters chanted solidarity songs while wielding placards and banners.
Some of the placards bore inscriptions such as: “President Tinubu, let the poor breathe,” “For another general strike with mass protest now,” and “Payment of living wage to all Nigerian workers now.”
Ikeja is the local government of President Bola Tinubu.
