BREAKING: Protests rocks Makurdi over police killing of final year female student

Protests have broken out in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, following the alleged killing of 23-year-old Emmanuella Ahenjir, a final-year student of the Federal University, Wukari, by police personnel.
Emmanuella was reportedly shot dead early Friday morning by unidentified officers at the Wurukum roundabout while traveling in a vehicle from the Gyado Villa area.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with hundreds of mostly young protesters taking to the streets. The demonstration, led by renowned gender rights activist Ukan Kurugh, has drawn attention to ongoing concerns over police brutality.
Protesters gathered at the Wurukum roundabout carrying placards with messages such as “End Police Brutality” and “Justice for Emmanuella,” demanding swift action and a transparent investigation into the killing.
Calls are growing for the authorities to take immediate steps to ensure accountability and justice.
