BREAKING: Reps Member, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere expelled from PDP for anti-party activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the lawmaker representing the Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State and spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

The expulsion, effective immediately, follows charges of gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.

The decision was communicated by the Ideato Local Government Area (LGA) chapter of the PDP in a letter dated December 5, 2024. The letter, signed by LGA Chairman Hon. ThankGod Okeke and Secretary Onyebuchi Umeh, was addressed to the party’s State Chairman.

This move follows the findings of a disciplinary committee report dated November 27, 2024, which investigated the allegations against Ugochinyere as per Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).

The disciplinary process began after Ugochinyere’s suspension by the Umuopia/Umukegwu ward on October 14, 2024, due to his failure to attend a meeting of the ward’s Executive Committee on October 5, 2024, despite multiple invitations.

The expulsion letter read: “Upon receipt of the report, the LGA Executive Committee of Ideato North met on December 5, 2024, and unanimously adopted the disciplinary committee’s findings. As a result, Hon. Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwonu is hereby expelled from the party (PDP) with immediate effect and ceases to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Umuopia/Umukegwu ward of Ideato North LGA.”

The disciplinary committee found Ugochinyere guilty of several violations of the party’s constitution, including:

Failing to attend meetings and participate in party activities for an extended period, violating Section 58(1)(e).

Engaging in unauthorized public discussions of internal party disputes, contrary to Section 58(1)(i).

Creating parallel party structures at the ward, LGA, and national levels, breaching the party’s constitution.

Making derogatory public comments about the party and its leaders, damaging the party’s reputation.

The PDP emphasized that these actions not only breached its constitution but also undermined the party’s unity and public image.
