Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, voluntarily presented herself for investigation at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
The probe is related to the alleged laundering of N37,170,855,753.44 under her watch through a contractor named James Okwete.
Sadiya Umar-Farouq confirmed her cooperation with the investigation in a statement on her social media platform, X.
She expressed her willingness to offer clarifications to the anti-graft agency regarding the issues under investigation.
“I have, at my behest, arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to honour the invitation by the anti-graft agency to offer clarifications in respect of some issues that the commission is investigating,” she wrote on her X handle.
