Scores injured as suspected militias attack community in Otukpo

A group of men suspected to be hired mercenaries from Akpa District in Otukpo in the early hours of Tuesday May 19th, 2020 attacked Otukpo-Nobi village injuring over a dozen residents.

The alleged militias, according to a source were invited by one Egbe (Swallow) who has been arrested by the local vigilante group from Igbanonmaje and handed over to the police for further investigations.

The militias who arrived the area on motorcycles reportedly fled into bushes when men of the local vigilante group came to rescue the situation.

Our source who pleaded anonymity further revealed that some residents were seriously injured and in coma and had been rushed to the hospital for proper medical attention.

Chief Inalegwu Abounu, the clan head of the area while reacting, described the attack as very unfortunate and promise to make sure the perpetrators are brought to book.
