State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure, Ondo State, has been allegedly sealed by state security agencies.
On Monday morning, a heavy presence of armed security personnel, including state police and the Directorate of State Security, was observed at the entrance of the secretariat, with their vehicles parked in the vicinity.
This development has caused apprehension among the party’s staff members, who chose not to enter the secretariat for work, fearing possible harassment or disruptions.
Sources indicate that the increased police presence is linked to the planned protest by the party’s youth wing regarding the absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from the state.
The protest, scheduled to occur today, is anticipated to voice concerns regarding the governor’s prolonged absence from the state and its implications. However, details regarding the nature of the deployment and the reasons behind the sealing of the secretariat remain unclear.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
Further updates and additional information on this development are expected to be released later.
