Survivors of the recent deadly herdsmen attack on Otobi-Akpa village in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State have reportedly been denied access to temporary shelter at the Och’Idoma Square in Otukpo.

IDOMA VOICE reports that the paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, His Royal Majesty Elaigwu Odogbo, is said to have barred the displaced villagers from using the square—located within the vicinity of the traditional palace as a safe haven, following the brutal invasion that claimed at least 11 lives and left scores homeless.

A concerned citizen, Meddy Emmanuel, had facilitated the evacuation of the victims to Otukpo town in a bid to ensure their safety. However, upon arrival at the revered traditional grounds, they were reportedly turned away by palace officials.

As of the time of filing this report, the victims remain stranded outside the palace premises, seeking refuge and humanitarian support amid growing public concern over their plight.
